9 Cozy Pacific Northwest Cabins You Can Rent
Winter in the Pacific Northwest is cabin season. Why? It’s infamous for being cold, dark, and dreary, which is why it's more important than ever to have something to keep you stoked. (Let's keep seasonal affective disorder (SAD) at bay, shall we?) It could be anything: pumpkin spice candles, snowboarding, eggnog, fuzzy socks, belly-warming drinks, etc. For me, it's a dimly-lit evening in a cozy cabin beneath a canopy of pine needles. When my clothes smell like campfire smoke and my cell phone reads "no service," that's my happy place, and the cabins that give me this sense of hygge (as the Danish say), reach peak coziness this time of year.
Here are some of my favorite PNW-based cabins to escape to each winter (and how to book).

2) Sasquatch Cabin (Treehouse Place at Deer Ridge)

This two-story tree house rental exudes off-the-grid vibes but comes with all the luxuries of a home (and then some). It’s unique, comfortable, is close to Seattle, and is smack in between the Mountain Loop Highway and Highway 2, which are two spots primed for adventure. It’s the perfect basecamp for a Stevens Pass shred session or a fire lookout hike (and that tub!!!! *heart eyes)–I see why it ranks in the top 10 tree house rentals in the US!
The spacious soaking tub is so clutch for a cozy evening in–dim the lights and light the fireplace for ultimate cozy vibes. Upstairs, the cozy bed awaits–it’s also where you’ll find the restroom with a flushing toilet, running water, power… Ideal. If you’ve stayed in a treehouse before, you know how luxurious that is!
3) The Bali House - Oregon

5) Mountain View Microcabin, Washington
Bedrooms: 1
Beds: 1
Sleeps: 2
Bathrooms: 1 (Outhouse)
Perks: The entire wall opens up to fresh air!
The Mountain View Cabin is as close to nature as you can possibly get without sacrificing a warm, cozy bed. We’re glamping here, so don’t expect electricity, wifi, running water, etc. The idea is to be immersed in nature with a few comforts, like complimentary coffee and creamer (heck, yes), battery powered lights, an open-air outhouse (flushing toilet), a sun shower, a fire pit, and a wood stove. It’s a magical little cabin in a private campground on the Mountain Loop Highway, which also means adventures are at your fingertips!
6) Rendezvous Huts - Washington
Bedrooms: 1
Beds: 4
Sleeps: 8-10
Bathrooms: 1 (Outhouse)
Perks: Ski-in, ski-out + epic view
Winthrop – Washington's cowboy town – has dry snow, sunny weather, and varied terrain, which landed itself a spot on the map as one of the world's best Nordic ski destinations. In the winter, cross-country skiers can strap in and stride on a hut-to-hut adventure through the foothills of the North Cascades. There are five Rendezvous Huts of various sizes (typically sleeping 8-10 people) in the network, and each is equipped with a full kitchen, a wood burning stove heater and fuel, sleeping pads, propane lights, and an outhouse. The one pictured here is the most remote of them all: The Cassal Hut. (Photos were taken in summer.)
Huts are reservable year-round, but public day-use is encouraged, so they're great for meeting new people who share your same stoke for the great outdoors. Bring a warm sleeping bag, start a fire, and dive into a provided board game – it's about to be a great night.
6) Treehouse Packwood
Bedrooms: 3
Beds: 6
Sleeps: 10
Bathrooms: 2
Perks: Hot tub
This stunning a-frame cabin is the perfect place to cozy up by the wood burning stove or soak those aching muscles after a long day hiking Mt. Rainier National Park in the summer or shredding White Pass in the winter. Head into Packwood for a delicious burger at Cliff Droppers and craft beer, campfires, and good vibes at Packwood Brewing before heading home to end the day with some cabin games and hot tub hangs.
7) Kalama Container Home
Bedrooms: 1
Beds: 1
Sleeps: 2
Bathrooms: 1
Perks: On a working farm with Highland cows!
This adorable little container home is on a working farm with Highland cows you can actually feed! (Ask the owners first!). It’s more spacious than it looks, with a full-size kitchen, an electric fire place, and the entire upstairs is the bedroom. Walk out the second floor door to an impressive deck and, my favorite part, a suspension bridge. How cool is that?

8) Lake Alice Cabin – Washington
Bedrooms: 2
Beds: 2
Sleeps: 4
Bathrooms: 2
Perks: Lakefront with a private beach
This cozy cabin in Fall City, Washington, is the perfect on-grid escape for a weekend on the lake. Its natural wood siding when lit aglow by the wood stove is such a vibe. Head down to the water to their outdoor seating area for a campfire. It’s such a sweet, totally accessible spot for those seeking a comfortable weekend away with a cozy, cabin atmosphere! Definitely one of the coolest lakeside rentals around!
9) Hobbit House – Bainbridge Island, WA
Bedrooms: 1
Beds: 1
Sleeps: 2
Bathrooms: 1 (Porta potty)
Perks: Walk to a nearby beach
Lord of the rings fans: this one’s for you. Bainbridge Island’s Hobbit House is a kitschy (in the best way) hole-in-the-hill one-room glamping getaway for two. There’s a table with two chairs, an electric fireplace that keeps you warm on colder nights, and a futon that pulls out into a bed. There are plenty of board games to keep you busy, a fire pit outside for a little hot dog and/or s’more roasting, and disc golf! I’d opt in for the growler add-on if I were you!
If you’re feeling a walk, stroll down to the nearby beach for an incredible view of Seattle! This unique rental is one for the glamper’s bucket list.
10) Hygge House (Mt. Baker Cabin)– Washington
Bedrooms: 1
Beds: 2
Sleeps: 4
Bathrooms: 1
Perks: Hot tub and close to trails
Name is on point! Another new cabin on this list, the Mt. Baker Hygge House (known on Airbnb as the Mt. Baker Cabin) exudes everything the Danish word embodies: interpersonal coziness, contentment, and well-being. Okay, so you’ll need a few of your favorite people to achieve peak Hygge, but the House gets you that much closer. I mean, would you look at that hot tub? If you need me, that’s where I’ll be. Talk about prime forest bathing.
The unique rental is just a 12-minute drive to Nooksack Falls, a 27-minute drive to Heliotrope Ridge Trailhead (highly recommend–it’s a 5-ish-mile round-trip hike to a glacier), and a 25-minute drive to Mt. Baker Ski Area.
The Hygge House only recently went up for rent in March of this year, so snag a night or two while you can! I have a feeling it’ll be all booked up before ya know it.
Stay cozy and happy wandering!
