This scenic unincorporated part of Chelan County is about 14 miles outside of Leavenworth and is anything other than the name suggests. The valley is surrounded by mountains, lines the Wenatchee river, and is dotted with beautiful pastures and farmland. Scroll down to the bottom of the post for things to do nearby.
Getting There
From the West side, hop on highway 2 toward Leavenworth and enjoy the beautiful mountainous drive along the SKykomish river. Once at the historic 59er Diner, take a left onto WA-207. After about 4 miles, take a right onto Beaver Valley Rd. Continue onto Chumstick Highway and stay straight as it turns into Camp 12 Rd. Gather Indie will provide detailed arrival and access instructions upon booking.
Gather Indie Treehouse
Cafe lights welcomed us as we drove into the gravel lot with space for two cars. We parked, entered the keypad code and took ourselves on a little walking tour–we couldn’t help ourselves.
I feel like I need to start with a little disclaimer: the Gather Indie Treehouse isn’t in or attached to a tree. It’s built on a super steep slope, so I’m assuming it was named based on the major tree house rental vibes it gives off when standing on the deck overlooking the forest, but it’s not a treehouse. Little technicalities, but I want to avoid any confusion and potential disappointment if you’re expecting to be floating in the trees.
The living room is your first stop, with a two-seater leather sofa, a chair in a cozy corner, fireplace, a record player, and some top-notch tunes to choose from. The front closet is home to sleds, beach towels, and a sleeping bag for the deck, and a crate full of custom-made wool slippers are available for guests.
The two-seater separates the living room from the fully equipped kitchen. We had all the pots and pans we needed to cook a delicious warm meal and bake pumpkin cinnamon rolls in the a.m. There’s even a soda machine if you’re feeling like a little bubbly water!
Barstools and a dining nook offer plenty of seating for taste testers and family meals. Snag a bottle of wine and you’re good to go!
The master is on the top (ground-level) floor with a queen-size bed, a two-sink full bath, and deck access, also accessible from the living/kitchen area. Guests have access to a washer and dryer too! How nice!
Hello, World!
Head outdoors for epic sunsets and a warm fire in the vintage Malm fireplace and a comfy two-seater, perfect for wine nights with a side of fresh pine.
Walk down the tight spiral staircase to the bottom floor where you’ll find a second bedroom, full bath, and a downstairs TV room–Roku and two couches make for great movie nights or cozying up with a book.
There’s also a downstairs office nook with two desktops to make your work from (vacation) home experience a breeze.
Outdoors, walk down the gravel ramp to find a fire pit and picnic table.

This 8.1-mile out-and-back hike is a Washington favorite (and for good reason). It's a moderately challenging hike, but the blue Gatorade lake is well worth the trek! Bring a snack and enjoy the view. Maybe go for a dip too if you're feeling bold!

Hike the Short Hidden Lake Trail
Lake Wenatchee is poppin’ any time of the year–leave the crowds behind and hike the short 1.9-mile out-and-back trail to Hidden Lake instead. It’s a beautiful mossy tree-covered trail accessible year round!
Pro tip: Slap on some microspikes and check this trail out in the winter! The entire lake freezes over!
Grab Beers and Pretzels in Leavenworth
If you don't get pretzels with beer cheese, did you really go to Leavenworth? Rhein Haus is a favorite for its outdoor fire tables and Front St. views. The food and beer are pretty dang good too.
